Permit Types:
🛂 KENYA WORK & RESIDENCE PERMITS – DETAILED EXPLANATION
Class A – Mining or Mineral Exploration
Issued to foreigners involved in mining or prospecting activities. Applicants must have relevant licenses, technical expertise, and evidence of investment in mineral extraction.
Class B – Agriculture and Livestock
For foreigners investing in agricultural projects or livestock farming. Applicants need to show land ownership or lease agreements and provide a business plan demonstrating the farming or livestock operation.
Class C – Licensed Professionals
For professionals like doctors, engineers, architects, lawyers, and others registered with Kenyan professional bodies. Applicants must provide proof of qualifications, professional registration, and a clear description of intended professional work.
Class D – Foreign Employment
For foreigners employed by Kenyan companies. Requires a valid employment contract, and any necessary professional clearances.
Class F – Manufacturing and Industrial Investment
Issued to investors in manufacturing or industrial enterprises. Applicants must submit a business plan, evidence of company registration, capital investment details, and a plan for employing Kenyan workers.
Class G – Business, Trade, and Consultancy
For foreigners starting or investing in general businesses, trading activities, or consultancy services. Proof of business registration, capital investment, and office premises is required.
Class I – Missionaries and Religious Workers
Granted to members of registered religious organizations for missionary or religious duties. Applicants must provide endorsement from their religious institution and evidence that activities are non-commercial.
Class K – Retirees and Persons with Foreign Income
For retirees or individuals with assured income from sources outside Kenya. Applicants must show proof of steady income such as pensions or investments and confirm they will not engage in employment or business.
Class M – Recognized Refugees
For individuals recognized as refugees under Kenyan law. Requires valid refugee status documentation. Usually exempt from standard immigration processes but must obtain permission to work.
Class N – Digital Nomads and Remote Workers
A newer category for foreigners working remotely for foreign companies while residing in Kenya. Applicants need to prove foreign employment or business, steady income, and meet other criteria as defined by immigration.
Class P – UN and International Organization Staff
For staff of UN agencies, diplomatic missions, or international NGOs based in hardship neighboring countries but residing in Kenya. Requires official appointment letters and justification for Kenya residency.
Class Q – Charity and Volunteer Workers
